Fishing

The choices are many.Do you want to fish for salmon and whiting from Berrara Beach? There is nothing more enjoyable than watching the sun set standing on the beach beside your fishing rod. You will have either bought your bait from nearby bait shops or you will have caught your own nippers or worms from Berrara beach or creek.

Perhaps you prefer rock fishing. There is bait on the rocks and as a rock fishing place, Berrara is relatively safe. Rock fishing is popular at Berrara and there are usually fish to be caught. Or perhaps throwing a line into the creek from Fisherman’s Rock or a boat is your preferred style of fishing. Flathead, mullet and bream breed in Berrara creek and provide meals for many families.

If you do not have your own fishing gear, cheap fishing tackle, a license and bait is available at Sussex Inlet, a five minute drive from Berrara.

Berrara Creek & Lagoon

The entrance to Berrara creek consists of a lagoon that runs into the ocean.

This lagoon is ideal for toddlers. Families have come to love the diversity of Berrara Creek from the lagoon for the toddlers, the deep water swimming further down the creek or the excellent surf for adults and teenagers. Generations of teenagers have body surfed Berrara Creek and beach. Feel like exploring Berrara Creek by water? We have 1 & 2 person kayaks available to use for anyone staying in our chalets.

When the swimming is finished, the whole family can explore the safe rock shelf. A white rag stuck on fish hooks attached to a stick attract the octopus. A myriad of crabs and shell fish, cunjevoi and the occasional abalone call the rockshelf home.

No need to entertain the kids. Kids of all ages love to swim and explore the beaches and rocks of Berrara.

Tennis

Wimbledon the local tennis court is not!!This is a village tennis court. It is all well weather and rustic. It is adjacent to the Cudmirrah/Berrara Progress Hall and is surrounded by bush. It is perfectly playable by the expert but is ideal for the hit and giggle beginner.

Bring your picnic basket sit on a rug with a glass of wine, soft drink or beer and watch your family and friends have fun. It is a single court so there are no smarty pants experts playing on an adjacent court, just you, your friends and family having a great time.

Bike Riding

Bring your bike on holidays. Berrara is biking heaven. There are countless trails through Conjola National Park. You can ride to Bendalong more quickly than you can drive. For the adventurous there are countless opportunities for mountain biking and jumping in the nearby gravel pits.

Or for mum and dad, there is the leisurely purpose built cycle way that runs along the shore of Swan Lake providing magnificent views. Great for the children as there is very little traffic, even on the road into Berrara. The opportunities for safe and enjoyable bike riding for children are endless.
